We’re selling our Rigid Inflatable Dinghy!

We have two dinghies and we only have room for one, so we’re selling our 12 foot Caribe dinghy! I feel like I need to explain. During our trip this summer, the Hypalon inflatable tubes started delaminating. By that, I mean the outer layer of material started to peel off the tubes. It was mainly cosmetic, but I felt that it was just a matter of time until the tubes started leaking and I didn’t want that to happen while we were in some remote location, hundreds of miles from a fix.

So, we decided to buy a new dinghy. We researched the market, made a decision on what we wanted to buy and made a deal with a dealer in Fort Lauderdale. We assumed that we would trade-in our Caribe, but the dealer didn’t want it because of the de-lamination. So we planned to sell it “as is,” basically for the value of the engine, which was very disappointing. Then a friend told us about a company that could re-tube the RIB with the same/better quality hypalon material than the original Caribe boat. So, off it went to the repair shop. In the meantime, we were committed to buy the new dinghy and took delivery a few weeks ago.

Today we got our old dinghy back and WOW! does it look great!! I’m really kicking myself for buying a new dinghy, but it is what it is and now we’re faced with the problem of having two dinghies! Bad for us, good for someone else (you?).

So here are the details:

  • 2003 Caribe Rigid Inflatable dinghy
  • 12 Feet Long
  • Center Console with windshield
  • 2013 Yamaha 40 HP engine
  • Super Dry and quiet
  • 25-30 MPH speeds
  • Easily gets up on plain (or is it plane?) with 4 big adults aboard
  • Dinghy Retubed 12/1/17
  • 8 Gallon Fuel Tank built in to Bow Locker
  • Garmin EchoMap DV FishFinder Chart/Plotter (added 2016)
  • Standard Horizon VHF (added 2017)
  • Lifting Harness
  • Spare Parts Kit
  • Spare Prop

And the price? only $9,900 will get you on the water with this fantastic dinghy – the perfect “family truckster” for a cruising couple or family. If you’ve been shopping for new RIBS similarly equipped, you’ll know that you would have to write a check for $25,000 or more to get a similarly equipped and rigged Dinghy!

Drop me a note or give me a call if you want to take a closer look – but don’t wait long, this deal won’t be around for long.
