America’s Cup 35 Is Underway

Oracle & New Zealand in a "photo finish" during race four.

I can’t believe it’s finally here. We’ve been planning this trip for so long, it felt like it would never get here and yesterday we watched Day 1 of the Louis Vuitton qualifying races. We watched the races from the America’s Cup Village rather than aboard Roam – a good call because we were fully immersed in all things AC.

This series will go on for about 2 weeks and the boat that emerges as the winner will face off in the finals with Team USA (Oracle). Rather than a bunch of words, I’ll just share some pictures from the day…

The America’s Cup team supported local youth through the Endeavor sailing program.
Clark practicing – just in case one of the skippers needs a last minute replacement…
Oracle screaming in to a winning finish!
Clark & Michelle on the Ferry.
Ferries are constantly crossing to and from Hamilton, St. Georges, Dock Yard, and the AC Village.
Michael Douglas overlooking the crowd on the promenade.
Oracle trying with the “brakes” on, just after crossing the finish line. There isn’t much room to slow down, before they’d be on the seawall!

End of Day as we leave the AC Village and head back to Roam.
